The form of simple past tense in verbal sentence is using v2. You can add ed, ied or so on and sometimes you will find irregular verbs. You should memorize v2 if you want to make simple past tense.

The pattern is :
(+) S + v2 + o/c
(-) S + did not + v1 + o/c
(?) Did + s + v1 + o/c ?
